The Rokinon 16mm T/2.2 Cine DS Manual Focus Ultra Wide Angle Lens has been developed primarily for professional cine / movie making purposes. It features a durable metal barrel with follow-focus gearing and a decoupled aperture which allow the user to smoothly and quietly change focus and aperture / depth of field while filming. With a minimum focusing distance of 7.9 inches (20cm) objects are captured close-up with incredible detail. A rounded 6-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing out-of-focus quality when using selective focus or shallow depth of field techniques. Optical construction is comprised of 13 elements divided into 11 optical groups with one extra-low dispersion element one hybrid aspherical element and one aspherical element to reduce chromatic aberration and distortion. It is designed with internal focusing (IF) meaning the lens barrel does not turn or change in size when focusing. Ultra multi-coated glass allows for a high level of light transmission and minimizes flare and ghosting. Also included is a removable lens hood to deter stray light from entering the lens while protecting it from accidental impact and precipitation.
