How to Install Brave on Windows 10

Brave is a free, open-source web browser built on Chromium, developed by Brave Software, Inc. In this tutorial, we install Brave on Windows 10 the simplest way available on this system — directly through the Microsoft Store — then pin it to the taskbar and confirm it launches and loads a real webpage correctly.

Step 1 — Open the Microsoft Store

Click the Microsoft Store icon to open it.

Step 2 — Search for Brave Browser

In the Microsoft Store search box, type Brave and press Enter. Brave Browser should appear in the results.

Step 3 — Install Brave Browser

Click on the Brave Browser listing, then click Install.

Step 4 — Close the Microsoft Store

Once installation finishes, close the Microsoft Store window.

Step 5 — Pin Brave to the taskbar (optional)

When prompted, choose whether you'd like to pin Brave Browser to your taskbar. This is entirely optional — it just makes the browser quicker to reach later.

Step 6 — Launch Brave Browser

Double-click the Brave Browser icon (on your taskbar or in your Start menu) to open it for the first time.

Step 7 — Complete the initial setup

On first launch, Brave walks through a short setup: you can skip setting Brave as your default browser and importing bookmarks, choose "Maybe later" on additional prompts, and opt out of sending usage data if you prefer not to share it. Once finished, you'll land on Brave's default new tab page.

Step 8 — Verify the installation

Once setup finishes, Brave opens to its default new tab page — confirmation that the browser installed and launched correctly.

In this tutorial, we also load a real page (eBay) as a final check that pages render correctly in the new install.
